To select the correct pad size, use this simple formula:
Required pad area = Crane outrigger load (lbs) ÷ Allowable ground bearing pressure (psf)
Example: A 60,000 lb outrigger load on soft soil (2,500 psf capacity) requires at least 24 sq ft of pad area – easily achieved with two 36"x36" pads stacked or side-by-side.
